Visiting Santa

A couple weekends ago we took the kids to see Santa in New Richmond. We were anticipating Cal screaming and bawling but he surprised us by just sitting seriously and checking Santa out.  When Santa asked him if he'd like cars for Christmas he even said "yep".  Leyton was nervous but managed to tell Santa what he wanted, "a big train".   j.a.d photography took the photos, which was very nice of her because there were a lot of kids in line to see Santa!

Cal is 2!

Cal is turning into such a big boy!  I still treat him like he's my baby, and then he'll say a new word and seem really old and I have to remind myself he is 2!  He really, really loves tractors and construction, so Leyton and I decided a construction themed party for him would be perfect.  He seemed to like his cake, and was hilarious about blowing out the candles.  He wasn't sure what to do at first so when we all told him to blow he got kind of shy, and then started blowing out of the corner of his mouth!  It was pretty funny, especially since he was able to get both candles out instantly!  Here are some photos from his party.  Thanks for coming everyone!

 Blowing out the candles:
Grandpa re-lit them a few times for him since he enjoyed it so much :)

Pretty sure this is the worst cousin picture we have to date!  The kids weren't crabby, but for some reason every picture I took there's very few that are smiling!
Another try... Grace, Leyton and Ella are trying, but it almost looks painful :)
Someone decided to smile! (pretty sure he just wanted me to stop taking pictures)

Goofy Leyton and Ella enjoying some cake:
We had a fun surprise finding out the sex of the baby too!  Grandma cut into the cake that revealed pink in the middle... meaning we're having a baby girl!  We were both in shock for quite some time!  Even though I was definitely more sick this time around than with the boys, which everyone kept saying meant girl, I think Eric and I were still assuming it would be another boy!
Cal loves his presents!  Thanks guys!

Watching Maggie and Ella check out his new pig flashlight:
Maggie was in the construction spirit!
Grandpa treated Cal to a ride on the golf cart, and on a tractor.  That's all he needed for his birthday!
At the end of the night Jessie and I got the boys in their pj's, only to realize they had the same ones on!  Funny and cute to see them matching!

Birthday Week (a month late)

The month of November is a little crazy for us as far as Birthday's go...  Grandpa Bostow's is the 6th, mine is the 15th, Dave's the 16th, Eric's the 17th, Cal and Jessie's the 19th!  So, in just our little family of 4 we have 3 birthdays in less than a week to celebrate.  We refer to it as "birthday week".  Leyton really wanted to get me a princess cake, so that's what him and Eric surprised me with! It was a nice night, complete with Leyton getting me the movie Brave (more for him of course :)), and Eric pulling through with the cities 97 sampler that came out that morning.  Thanks for waiting in line for me Eric!  Saturday was Eric's birthday and Leyton and Cal and I ordered him a tools cake that the boys loved.  Finally Monday was Cal's birthday, but we celebrated it Friday evening at my parents with everyone.  I'm going to do a separate post for his birthday though, since his is a little more fun to see pictures of :)

Blowing out my candles.  We only put a couple on, not all THIRTY! Ugh...

Dad's birthday!  Opening presents with the boys:
 Ready for more cake:
After his party Friday, Cal was really into blowing out candles:

Cal wanted to eat his cake with the hammer:
Happy 30th Eric!
