Hockey

Hockey started in November, and Leyton really loves it.  He has gotten so fast at skating, and has even learned to skate backwards, which I suppose is important for hockey, but I hadn't really thought about :).  A couple weeks ago his team got to play a little scrimmage at intermission of a boys varsity game and Leyton scored a goal!  He was one happy kid!  Here are a few photos from the last couple of weeks.

This is his favorite varsity player.  He likes him because he is really good, skates the fastest, and is his same #17 :).  After the scrimmage they got to meet the varsity players.  Leyton was so excited and got his autograph.  When we got home he went downstairs and took a frame that I had a piece of his artwork in, took out his art and put the autograph in it.  Pretty funny.
 Leyton with his buddy Evan:
And with Breckin.  Breckin, Evan and Leyton go to daycare together and all go to the same school.  Since there are 3 elementaries in NR now a lot of his other daycare friends go to different schools.
 Waiting to take the ice:

Art Lover

Leyton has always loved arts and crafts, and if you ask him his favorite thing about school it is Art.
Back in January he got to be 'Artist of the Week' at his school.  Each week the Art Teacher picks a student from Hillside and they fill out a little poster about themselves and then it is hung up in the art room window for the week.  Leyton was pretty excited to be chosen!  Here he is with his poster:

In the Fall they had a carnival night at Hillside, and every student had a piece of artwork hung up in the school.  Here is Leyton with his purple mask (directly above his head).

A few weeks ago Leyton came home with a letter from his art teacher that he had a piece of artwork chosen for the Youth Art Month Exhibit at WITC.  There were many different schools there, and it was fun looking at all the different artwork.  Leyton couldn't remember what one his was, he only said he remembered his teacher asking if he could keep a project.
When we found his, the purple hands above his head, he said "that was one of the very first things we did in school!", which I guess explains whey he couldn't remember what it could be :)

He was pretty proud!

Random Update

I have been terrible about updating the blog lately, so here is a random photo update of what we've been up to the last couple months!
A couple weeks ago I took Leyton skiing.  We had gone last year and he loved it, so we decided to have a Mom & Leyton day and go again.  It was fun, not too cold, and Leyton picked it up pretty quickly again.

 He has mastered the chairlifts!
Tired out and read to go home:
We watched Lucy play basketball one weekend.  She did great, and is lucky enough to have her mom as one of her coaches!
We've been doing a lot of ice skating.  Both Cal and Leyton seem to love it.

Fiona is getting so goofy.  She loves her hats and will randomly wear them around the house- i'm guessing when she thinks it completes her outfit for the day ;).
We had a babysitter the other weekend and the boys were excited to bake cookies with her!

Last weekend we went to Aunt Kelly's house to hang out, and Kelly happened to be getting her hair cut- and by cut I mean CUT OFF!  She donated 10", and then Cal was lucky enough to get in on the haircuts as well.  It looks great and was better than dragging three kids to the haircut place after work.  Fiona had fun playing with Grace and Lucy, and I think they had fun dressing her up in their old dance clothes!
 Getting that long hair cut!

Fiona has discovered that she likes to dig in the lower cupboards, and lately she cant resist the cupboard that has the baking supplies in it.  I found her having a blast with sugar one day...

And Cal... my cook.  He loves to help cook, and loves to eat just as much.  I found him in his room with a frozen stick of butter one day.  I know that is a little disturbing, but it was pretty funny too.  When I asked him why he was eating it he said "It smells so good!".  Yuck!

Fiona is getting so big.  She is talking so much and her hair officially fits in pigtails :)

We were busy cheering on the Pack the last few months, even though they once again broke our hearts!  But we'll be back in the fall, ready for more :)

Eric and Cal went ice fishing one Saturday.  It was way cold, and we don't have an ice house, so Cal didn't last too long.  I think he still had fun though.

Ella, Maggie and Fiona looking cute:

Santa!

The kids must have been good again this year, because Santa came to our house and I think they each got something they really wanted.  Here are a few photos from Christmas morning!

The main thing Leyton wanted was Lego Chima sets.  He was really excited about getting this one:
Connect 4 is still a great game!
The other thing Leyton really wanted was a Goalie Hockey stick, so he was one happy kid.

Cal asked Santa for a Grader, and Santa delivered:
Cal got a big John Deere Tractor, which he could not have been more excited about!

 Cal loves his giant Moose!
 Fiona got some new PJs:
 And immediately wanted them on:

She also got a doll crib,  which gets a ton of use!
