Leyton's First Day of School

On September 3rd Leyton had his first day of 4K at First Lutheran.  He seemed excited and nervous leading up to it.  We had met his teacher the Thursday before and toured his classroom, and he seems to have a great teacher.  Leyton is also at First Lutheran for childcare so it works out well that his childcare teacher walks him over to the 4K room in the afternoon.  Here are a few photos of the big first day!

I stayed home later than normal so Eric and I could drop them off together, but it was still a little dark out when it was time for us to take pictures.

He picked out his own outfit the night before, and we had a last minute shoe switch.  He decided against his boots in favor of his "fast shoes". He's getting opinionated about what he wears, and likes his accessories lately- like baseball hats and belts!
(Cal may have been half asleep still :))

Now he's waking up and getting excited for his brother!
 At the school:

His assistant teacher got there at the same time as us and offered to take our picture:
Even Fiona was excited for his first day :)

Cabin on Lake Superior

At the end of August we took our annual trip up to Lake Superior to stay at Dan's Family's cabin with my family.  It was a great trip with beautiful weather the entire time, and water that wasn't too cold to swim in.  The kids had a blast together and the adults also.  Eric and I both agree that we cant wait to go back again next year already.

The babies looking cute in the sand.  I was surprised that Fiona didn't mind the sand at all, or getting her feet wet in the cold waves.
Getting pretty good at sitting up:
This is what I get sometimes when I ask Cal to smile for me:
Really, Really Happy!
Lucy and Lauren were showing off their splits skills, and Leyton wasted no time trying to do the same.  Below him and Lucy demonstrate their skills :):
A long time ago I taught Leyton the sign for "I love you" and it makes me happy when he randomly does it for me still.  He will even surprise me once in awhile and do it when he's been pouting or is mad about me saying no to something :):
And then his surfer dude pose:

The little boys found logs/sticks... go figure!

The guys got up at 4:30 and went fishing one morning.  Eric caught this brown trout that the kids thought was pretty cool:
Leyton and Fiona:

Eric and some work guys grew beards for a work thing.... Thankfully its finally gone ;)
Lauren, Leyton and Ella working hard on the moat for their sandcastle:

Kelly and Evelyn looking adorable:

I told Lucy to squat down next to Ella, and Ella decided she should squat too :)
Luca and Cal with their best buddy Grandpa:
I am always amazed how far out you can go and still be able to touch bottom.  That tiny white spec on the far left is Eric, still touching that far out.
So these next pictures are a little disturbing and funny at the same time.  Cal found a couple slugs and was obsessed with them.  He carried them around and showed them to everyone for quite awhile before I had to put an end to it.

He thought they were so funny!

The slide into the water is a favorite every year:
Grace and Lucy celebrated their birthdays while we were there.  Hard to believe my first niece is 9 years old already and starting FOURTH grade...
Grace and her new American girl doll:
Lucy got some pretty cool converse from Grandma, and the expression on her face when she opened them was priceless.  And I see she rocked them on the first day of school- So Lucy! :)
Grandma and Fiona:
Luca and Cal had fun at the drinking fountain:

I think it will be fun next year to see what they are up to when Tommy is also old enough to join in on their adventures...
We got a picture of the 11 kids all lined up.  First picture we have of all of them.  Turned out better than I anticipated:
Grandpa and Cal going for a ride:
Tommy enjoying a sand snack:
Kelly, Lucy, Tommy and Tina hanging out:
Gotta get that beach lawn mowed...
And the babies being happy and squeezable together:

Evelyn and Fiona hung out on blankets and watched the big kids on the beach a lot:
We went to the park one morning:
Tired out!  Lauren, Leyton and Ella opted to sleep on the floor slumber-party style each night:
Thanks for the great weekend guys!
